View full sized Southern Most Point

We arrived in Singapore at half past midnight and had a driver pick us up and take us to 1 BnB Singapore. Greeted on arrival, we took the lift in the building to the 25 floor. We entered a living area inside the penthouse, were shown our room and given a bottle of water. We woke up to the smell of cooked breakfast. During the day we went to raffles and surrounding area enjoying views of the "Singapore river". The weather! 33 degrees and sunny Decided to dress light.

We visited sentosa and lounged around on the beach soaking up the sun for the best part of a day. Sentosa is a man made island off the coast of singapore and is home to loads of sights. The carlsburg tower and bikini bar.... plus loads more. We visited underwater world but, the best part of underwater world was our ticket to dolphin lagoon. We were able to touch a dolpin after the show. We took the bus to singapore zoo & night safari. Took us a whole day to look around the zoo.... so much to see.

Must be one of the best zoo's around, all the animals are free from cages and they even allow them to move freely around the zoo! at one stage in the day we came across a monkey sitting on a post as we walked past. People avoided him as he was on the look out for food to steal. The night safari is great and a must see if you ever come to singapore. Although its very hard to take photos so we gave up and enjoyed the sights, found out that tigers sleep/rest for 20 hours a day we were expecting the big cats to be more energetic at night!

This week we've been on a cable car up to mount faber, which was a shorter ride than we expected, more of a hill than a mountain, but fun trip all the same! We went to a science centre where we watched a movie in singpore's biggest dome theatre! We've been to clarke quay and done lots of shopping and chilling out by the river. We had a personal tour of the tiger beer factory (as we were the only ones in the factory!) and got to try nice ice cold tiger beer and we got two tiger beer glasses to keep as souveniers.

We visited a crocodile farm, advertised as saving crocodiles but when we got there the gift shop was selling crocodile handbags and lizard skins pockets! The crocs were kept in small concrete boxes with a little bit of water! We celebrated the chinese new year by going to chingay parade 2008! was amazing to see thousands of people all dancing and celebrating the new year..... Will add some more pictures soon when we get a chance.

We arrived in melbourne... got on the tram for our hostel and paid for the wrong ticket, good thing no-one asked to see our tickets! our first night was spent in the pub down stairs. cheap meals and drinks. Theres loads to see and do in melbourne, so far we've been to st kilda beach.... although its very cold!!! about 12 degrees. we spent the day looking around st kilda and getting used to the trams. we went to the Southern hemispheres largest covered market and then to a casino.... we've visited ramsay street and took a tour around the studio's!!! entered a quiz night in the pub, not much fun when you don't know the answers!!!! we folded our quiz paper and snuck out the bar shapish.

sunday we went on a walk around a lake near us, which we didnt realise was actually the formula 1 racing track!on monday we went to a bar in town where they were holding a meet the stars neighbours night! we met Paul Robinson, Elle Robinson, and Lyn Scully!! So we had a chat and a drink or two and got some great photos which we will upload when we get a proper computer to use as this is just a kiosk. We also went up the observation deck and saw some nice views of the city. whilst in the city, we were given some free tickets to watch a comedy show called the blank musical, where the actors do a whole hour show on a topic which the audience chooses- someone chose the topic of puberty! pretty funny!

Funny thing happened to us after a few to drink waiting in the tram station... this lady walked past us stopped got her phone out and took a photo of us.. very weird!!! must have thought we were famous or something We went to the Melbourne gaol (jail) was a crazy experience we were arrested and shouted at by a very angry lady.. locked up in a cell and later told that cell was used to hose down tramps and drunken vomiting pooing prisoners!!!!

we walked to the docklands and saw part of an afl game at the telstra dome on a big screen outside the grounds....saw an exotic animal in the local park... got back to the hostel to brag showed a picture to Them and they said "its just a possum"... our last night in the hostel was great went down stair to the bar and got a bit drunk on free goon!!!! (boxed wine) it was games night!! played ring of fire and had ago on the nintendo wii. now we're regretting having so much to drink!!!

ahhh almost forgot to add... our last two nights in the hostel we weren't alone in our room!!! there we're mice in the floor boards!! little buggers ohh and the night before a guy climbed up on the roof of our hostel.

We saw penguins at port Phillip/ Melbourne waterbreak.... saved $90 instead of doing Phillip island.

"Forbidden Gardens of Katy, Texas is an amazing replica of the famous site in China where Emperor Qin buried over 8,000 terra cotta statues replicating his army for the afterlife."

"Here I am posing in front of the 1/3 scale replicas of the famous statues. Qin (pronounced "chin") was an emperor of a small part of

what we now know as China. He managed to take over the other six provinces and unite them. Ye very name of the modern country comes from the pronounciation of the name Qin."

"Like many cultures the king felt he needed an immense army to follow him into the afterlife. He considered having all of his soldiers killed and entombed with hime but the cooler heads of his advisers convinced him statuary likenesses would fulfill the same purpose.

It is believed that as many as 8,000 of these life-size sculptures are at the archeological site, every one of them with a unique face modeled after an actual warrior! Forbidden Gardens has over 6,000 replicas in varying sizes.

Emperor Qin surveys his army of thousands of figures. These replicas were crafted from fiberglass. The originals took twenty years to complete, the replicas only four."

As I sit in my garden in sunny St Albans, with the temperature soaring past 30C, the thought of going to Mallorca is not particularly enticing. Although as I look for some shade and a place to cool off, maybe it does deserve a closer look. After all, the only time we have been there, we had to deal with snow, not blazing sunshine.

My one visit to Mallorca was a very pleasant one - Boxing Day 2004 (tsunami day) and we left Liverpool airport after a long delay due to snow. With a few days off before the New Year, it was a chance to do some decent hiking in conditions that should be perfect - not too warm, not too cold. And it is a beautiful island. To those who would not venture there for its image of drunken streets polluted by the best of British, of fish and chip shops, big breakfasts and umpteen Irish bars, I would reassure them that most of this rugged and varied island is made up of beautiful coastline, quaint villages and very friendly people. You can easily lose yourself in the open spaces of northern Mallorca (although you might bump into local residents Michael Douglas and CZJ), with some energetic walking in the hills near Valldemossa or the coast around Puerto de Soller. We enjoyed a few good hikes in this area, and especially loved the seafood at the end of our toils. It even got quite warm at some points!
